At the end of 2022 I fulfilled a long-held dream of opening a jewellery shop. Its name is 321 Portobello as that is where it is, at the groovy end by Golborne Road. Our motto is ‘Jewellery For All People’ and we relish finding wondrous jewellery to sell, of many different styles, periods, and prices.
My shopkeeper hero is Mosheh Oved, a flamboyant figure who, clad in cloaks and robes, reigned over a jewellery shop in Bloomsbury between the world wars and was also himself a sculptor, a maker of beautiful modernist animal rings and an inspired writer. I too am a maker – crafting chunky, organic/cosmic-inspired silver rings, earrings and pendants for a small but loyal fan-base.
I have also recently welcomed two other fantastic jewellery designers and makers, one current and one former alumnus of St Martins to work alongside me in my basement workshops, so a community is forming!
